Privacy policy.

1. Who we are
Onsellr ("we", "our", "us") operates the website at onsellr.com — an online marketplace where private sellers and dealers list cars for sale to buyers in Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
- Account details — name, email address, phone number, and password (stored as a one-way hash). If you sign in with Facebook, we receive your name and (if you allow it) your email address from Facebook.
- Listing content — vehicle details, photos, price, location, and description that you choose to publish.
- Messages — communications you exchange with other users through our messaging system.
- Usage data — pages viewed, searches performed, listings saved, and basic device information (IP address, browser type) for security and analytics.
- Payment information — processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card details on our servers.
3. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account, including authentication via email/password or Facebook.
- To publish your listings and connect you with prospective buyers or sellers.
- To improve search results, deal scoring, and price recommendations.
- To send transactional emails (account confirmations, lead notifications, billing receipts).
- To detect fraud, abuse, and violations of our terms.
- To comply with legal obligations under Australian law.
4. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Other users — your public listing details and seller name are visible to anyone visiting the site.
- Service providers — hosting, email delivery, payment processing, and analytics, all bound by confidentiality obligations.
- AI assistant providers — if a dealer connects our ChatGPT app (Onsellr IQ Connect), the information they ask for is sent to OpenAI to generate the response. See section 7.
- Authorities — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.
5. Analytics & session recording
We use PostHog, a third-party analytics provider, to understand how the site is used and to improve the product. PostHog is hosted in the United States.
- Events & usage — pages you visit, searches you run, listings you view, enquiries you send, and similar interactions.
- Account identifiers — for signed-in users, your Onsellr account ID, email and name are sent to PostHog so we can tell unique sessions apart and provide support.
- Session recordings — we record an anonymised playback of your session so we can spot bugs and confusing flows. Form fields, message contents, phone numbers and rego details are automatically masked and never appear in recordings.
- Device & network info — browser type, operating system, screen size, approximate location (city level via IP) and referrer.
You can request deletion of your PostHog profile at any time by emailing admin@onsellr.com or by deleting your Onsellr account, which also removes your PostHog profile.
6. Facebook Login
If you choose to sign in with Facebook, we receive your Facebook user ID, name, and email address (if granted). We use this only to create or sign you into your Onsellr account. We do not post to your Facebook profile, access your friends list, or import any other information. You can disconnect Onsellr from Facebook at any time via your Facebook app settings.
7. Onsellr IQ Connect (our ChatGPT app)
Onsellr offers an optional app for ChatGPT called Onsellr IQ Connect, which lets dealers ask questions about their own Onsellr account from inside ChatGPT. It is only available to dealers who choose to connect it and sign in with their Onsellr account.
When a dealer uses the app, ChatGPT (operated by OpenAI) sends the dealer's questions to Onsellr, and Onsellr returns information from that dealer's own account so it can be shown in the chat. Depending on what the dealer asks, this can include:
- Dealership data — listings, prices, stock age, lead and pipeline status, marketing and ad spend, and account activity.
- Customer and buyer information — names, contact details (email and phone), enquiry and message content, test-drive and trade-in details, and lead history.
This information is processed by OpenAI to generate the response and is handled under OpenAI's privacy policy. No information is shared with OpenAI unless a dealer connects the app and asks for it.
Actions that change data — such as replying to a buyer, moving a lead, or sending a contract — are never carried out automatically. The dealer must review and explicitly confirm each action before anything is sent or changed. A dealer can disconnect the app at any time from their Onsellr dealer settings, which stops any further data being shared.
8. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and measure how the site is used. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site may stop working.
9. Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we must retain certain records for legal or tax purposes.
10. Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or out-of-date information.
- Request deletion of your account and personal information.
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
To exercise any of these rights, email us at admin@onsellr.com or visit our data deletion page.
11. Security
We use industry-standard measures including HTTPS, hashed passwords, and encrypted database connections. No system is perfectly secure — if you suspect a breach involving your account, contact us immediately.
12. Children
Onsellr is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or via a notice on the site. Continued use of Onsellr after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
